Our
Programs
We are presently
offering Intermediate and Beginner concert bands, Really Loud Bang!
drumline and Saskatchewan Lions Marching Program. As interest grows in the
program Jazz and Senoir Concert Bands will be added.
1.
Intermediate Concert Band
This
band is for students who have been playing for atleast one year on their
current instrument. The band will rehearse on Tuesday nights with sections
from 6:00 to 7:00 and full concert band from 7:15 to 8:45. The focus of
the music will be introducing the students the music that was written
since 1995. The Intermediate band will participate in the Christmas
concert, Optimist Festival, Springfest, Spring Concert and various events
around the city and the province.
2.
Beginner Concert Band
This band is for students that
have never played an instrument before or who want to learn a new
instrument. The band will rehearse on Wedsnesday nights with sections from
6:00 to 7:00 and full concert band from 7:15 to 8:30. They will begin
learning out of a standard method book but before Christmas will be
introduced to music that will be played at the Christmas Concert. The
Beginner band will participate in the Christmas Concert, Optimist
Festival, Springfest, Spring Concert and various events around the city
and the province.
3.
Really Loud Bang!
Really Loud Bang! will be in
its third year of existence. This talented group of percussionists plays
music and cadences for drums and arrangements for concert and marching
percussion. Some percussion experience is required for membership in this
group. Rehearsals will continue to be from 2:00 to 5:00 on Sundays. In the
past the group has performed at sporting events like L.I.T. and the Dragon
Boat Races and in parades around the province, but we will also be
features entertainment at the University of Regina Cougars Basketball
Games starting with the first home game on October 31.
History
The Regina Lions Band is a
non-profit community band formed in 1946 by Marion and A.B. Mossing. We have been in
operation for the past 62 years.
